This was a direct replacement for what came in my Retro trailer. The new unit came with the needed mounting trim plate as the previous unit had broken. That may have been the reason the old unit failed: when it was mounted, it relied on the trim to support the weight, not the mounting feet under the unit. This may have been too much stress when being towed and eventually cracked the trim and ultimately a hard short in the electronics. Hopefully this new unit will last longer than the original.
